Overview

MIS (Movimento per l'Indipendenza della Sicilia = Movement for the Independence of Sicily)

The MIS is a separatist party in Sicilia, founded in 2004. It reclaims the heritage of the old MIS (Movimento Indipendentista Siciliano = Sicilian Independentist Movement) of 1943-1951, that had some success immediately after WW2. The current MIS holds no seat in the regional assembly.

The party symbol is a complicated collage of the Sicilian trinacria, the old party symbol, the party flag, the party name and abbreviation, and the foundation year of the original MIS. The party flag, traditionally used by all Sicilian separatists, is horizontally striped 9 times of yellow and red, and shows a yellow trinacria in a blue canton [1,2,3]. There are also a couple of images that show the historical versions of this flag [4,5].
